Shao Zhang  > Photography > 58 f/1.2 Build Log
This is a photo log of just one of my Minolta f/1.2 conversions. The photos are in the same order as my build. Please read each photos caption for details of that step.

Leatherman file used to cut a channel into the new mount so that the chip will sit flush
Channel cut into the new mount for the protrusion of the ROM chip to sit in.
Lens with old mount removed along with the aperture linkage which is attached to the mount assembly.
View of the ROM chip about to be installed. Data on this chip is 60mm f/1.1 which is close enough as 58mm f/1.2 was not possible with current Minolta/Sony codes.
New mount mounted to a Minolta 7 film camera with the chip put in place for checking alignment spacing. See how the contacts of the chip are aligned with the pins on the camera. This is the target indexing of the chip and any deviations will lead to the chip not making contact correctly. A 1mm shift is too much as I have learned the hard way.
This is 5 layers of aluminum tape which will be used as a temporary spacer. You can use any kind of tape but the thicker ones make this easier.
Here I have cut 3 spacers from the larger piece I made earlier.
Spacers are now placed on the contact side of the chip.
Here I have a piece of tape cut which I will use to hold the chip to the mount while the epoxy glue hardens.
